ACFT Event One: 3RM Deadlift | The Green Beret Guide to the ACFTThe Army also provided resources and guidance on how to prepare for the acft minimum score, emphasizing the importance of functional training that mirrors the events of the test. This included pilot programs and extensive training for both soldiers and leadership on how to conduct the test and interpret the results. To address these challenges, the Army implemented a phased approach to the ACFT rollout.

The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) was introduced as a new standard for assessing soldiers' physical fitness, replacing the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT). This case study evaluates the implementation and outcomes of the ACFT, focusing on its scoring system, impact on soldier readiness, and the challenges faced during its rollout.

Each event is designed to measure different aspects of physical fitness, including strength, endurance, agility, and coordination. The ACFT was implemented to replace the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) to better assess the physical capabilities required for combat. The test consists of six events: the deadlift, standing power throw, hand-release push-up, sprint-drag-carry, leg tuck, and 2-mile run.

Each event targets specific physical attributes such as strength, endurance, and agility, providing a holistic view of a soldier's fitness level. The ACFT consists of six events that measure different aspects of physical fitness: the deadlift, standing power throw, hand-release push-up, sprint-drag-carry, leg tuck, and two-mile run.

3 3RM Deadlift event executionTo pass the ACFT, soldiers must achieve a minimum score of 360 points, with specific minimum performance standards for each event that vary based on gender and age. The ACFT consists of six events: the deadlift, standing power throw, hand-release push-up, sprint-drag-carry, plank, and two-mile run. Each event is designed to assess different aspects of physical fitness, including strength, endurance, and agility. The scoring system is based on a 600-point scale, with each event contributing a maximum of 100 points.

Hand Release Push-Up: This exercise evaluates upper body strength and endurance, with soldiers performing push-ups where they release their hands off the ground at the bottom of each rep. Leg Tuck: This event tests core strength and stability, with soldiers hanging from a pull-up bar and bringing their knees to their chest. Sprint-Drag-Carry: This event measures agility, speed, and muscular endurance through a series of sprints, drags, and carries over a set distance. 2-Mile Run: This classic endurance event measures cardiovascular fitness, requiring soldiers to complete a two-mile run in the fastest time possible. Standing Power Throw: This event assesses explosive power and core strength, requiring soldiers to throw a medicine ball backward over their heads. Deadlift: This event tests lower body strength and endurance. Soldiers lift a weighted barbell from the ground to a standing position.

A significant aspect of the ACFT is its emphasis on gender and age norms, which aims to create a fairer and more inclusive testing environment. This adjustment acknowledges the physiological differences between genders and the varying capabilities of soldiers at different ages. However, some critics argue that these adjustments may dilute the overall standards and lead to disparities in readiness among units.

Deadlift: This event tests lower body strength and endurance by requiring soldiers to lift weights from the ground. Hand-Release Push-Up: This evaluates upper body strength and endurance, requiring soldiers to perform push-ups with a specific technique. Two-Mile Run: This classic endurance test evaluates cardiovascular fitness over a distance of two miles. Standing Power Throw: This measures explosive power and upper body strength through a medicine ball throw. Leg Tuck: This event measures core strength and upper body endurance by requiring soldiers to perform a specific hanging leg exercise. Sprint-Drag-Carry: This combines sprinting, dragging a sled, and carrying kettlebells to assess agility, endurance, and functional strength.

ACFT Event 4 Sprint Drag CarrySoldiers who score well are not only physically prepared but also demonstrate a commitment to their personal health and the mission of the Army. Physical fitness directly correlates with operational capability, and the ACFT helps identify areas for improvement. The ACFT is more than just a test; it is a reflection of a soldier's readiness for combat.

One of the key aspects of the ACFT is the scoring system, particularly the maximum scores achievable in each event. Replacing the older Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT), the ACFT was designed to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of a soldier's physical capabilities, ensuring they are fit for the demands of modern warfare. The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) has been a pivotal change in the way the United States Army assesses the physical fitness of its soldiers. This article will delve into the ACFT max scores, the events involved, and the implications for soldiers.
