뉴질랜드 교통부에서 발표한 ‘양보 운전’ (기브웨이: give-way) 새교통법규가 2012년 3월 25일 (일요일) 오전 5시를 기점으로 발효된다.
양보운전 새 법규는 뉴질랜드의 운전자를 비롯해 횡단보도자, 오토바이, 자전거를 이용객 모두가 알아두어야 할 사항이다.
변경된 운전법규1. 본인이 우회전할 경우와 맞은편의 운전자가 좌회전할 경우
아래에 몇 가지 사항을 참조바람.
가) 교통표지판이나 신호등이 없는 도로에서 쌍방이 마주보는 방향으로 운전할 때
나) 쌍방이 ‘양보운전차선’ (Give way)에 멈춰있을 때
다) 쌍방이 ‘일단정지’ (Stop)에 멈춰있을 때
라) 쌍방이 ‘파란 신호등’ (Green traffic signals)을 받았을 때
상기와 같은 경우, 모든 운전자들은 본인이 우회전을 하기 전에 반대방향에서 오는 상대가 좌회전을 시도한다면 반드시 양보를 해야 한다.
변경된 운전법규 2. 교통표지판이나 신호등 없는‘T자’교차로에서 (T-intersections)
교통표지판이나 신호등이 전혀 없는T자교차로의 경우.
· T자 의 꼬리부분 (그림에서 세로)에서 좌우 양방향으로 나갈 수 있는T자 머리부분(그림에서 가로)으로 운전해 나가는 모든 운전자가T자 꼬리 부분으로 우회전하려는 상대에게 반드시 양보 해야 한다.
(그림참조) 적색차가 녹색차에게 차선을 양보해야 한다.
양보운전에 관한 신교통법규는 쇼핑몰이나 병원 등의 공공 차선진입로에도 적용된다.
· 진입로에서 나가는 차량은 도로에서 진입하고자 하는 상대에게 반드시 양보해야 한다.
아래는 변경사항 없이 기존과 같음
· 진입로로 진입하거나 정지해있는 모든 차량은 보도에서 기다리는 보행자, 자전거이용자와 자전거 거리의 이용자와 보행자에게 양보해야 한다.
· 운전자는 보행자나 자전거 이용인이 기다릴 때 보도를 가로막아서는 안 된다.

Changes to NZ give-way rules come into effect at 5am on Sunday 25 March 2012. Until then the current give-way rules apply. These changes will affect all drivers, riders, pedestrians and cyclists in New Zealand.
Change 1: The left-turn versus right-turn rule
a) both vehicles are facing each other with no signs or signals (neither vehicle is controlled) b) both vehicles are facing give way signs
c) both vehicles are facing stop signs d) both vehicles are facing green traffic signals Change 2: At uncontrolled T-intersections ('uncontrolled' means when there are no signs or signals to tell you what to do) At an uncontrolled T-intersection, all traffic from a terminating road (bottom of the T) will have to give way to all traffic on a continuing road (top of the T). This will bring it into line with T-intersections where there are Stop or Give Way signs on the terminating road. In the diagram below the RED car has to give way to the GREEN car:
This rule change will also apply to uncontrolled driveways, such as at a supermarket or hospital. From 5am on 25 March 2012 the traffic exiting the driveway will need to give way to all traffic on the road. All vehicles entering or exiting a driveway must continue to give way to pedestrians on a footpath, or cyclists and pedestrians on a cycle path or shared path. Drivers should not pull out to block the footpath in front of pedestrians and cyclists. |
