: What is Our Focus?

“They all met together and were constantly united in prayer.” (Acts 1:14)

Our Prayer (우리의 기도) :

Heavenly Father,

we ask for Your grace, that we may continue together to learn to see and respond with wonder, gratitude, and love to God’s holy beauty not only in our own lives, but in the life of every human being who bears it.

The New Testament church prayed fervently together. Clearly relationships were and are central to the Christian faith. Collective prayer brings us together, reminding us that being relationship with one another is something God values. That happens when we pray together. The weak uphold the strong.

When we pray together corporately, there are going to be people who are stronger in their faith, so the weak can see them modeling a robust faith. Two are better than one. Ecclesiastes 4:12 says. “a person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braised cord is not easily broken.”

When two or three are gathered in his name, Jesus will be in their midst as well (Matthew 18:20). So it’s another win-win.

Drawing together to pray is an empowering way to be in God’s presence. Then once the prayer gets answered, we can remind one another. Look what God did. And that becomes a point of bonding, empowerment, and power.

It’s “foolish” to fight the good alone – impossible, really. And it’s often, spiritually. We “need” Christ to survive, and He “has chosen” to give us His strength through His body, the church.

The man who seeks God in isolation from his fellows “is likely” to find, not God, but the devil, who will bear an embarrassing resemblance to himself.

Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ, I will know that you are “standing together” with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.
